Has anyone read this article?

i doubt anyone would remember it but maybe about 7 years ago i read an article in a gun magazine about NASA designed projectile weapons that could fire at absolutely tremendous speeds. they showed a picture of a block of aluminum with about a 2" crater in it from a 22 cal projectile. if you read it, do you know what magazine it came from?
