Is Obama planning an October suprise for the Republican party?

Clearly Obama is not John Kerry or Al Gore. Even extreme right wingers will tell you that Obama played hardball politics to win handily in his senate race in Illinois. He has been very relaxed lately and I got a feeling he's up to something. Democrats have been wanting him to respond to several untruthful McCain ads and he hasn't done it. We know that he's not weak, defeating (even though he just squeaked by) the Clinton machine in the primaries, which is a feat that even the Republicans could not do and lost to them twice. Is he really up to something? Are the Republicans planning the same thing for the Democrats?
